Black Friday Salon Promotion Ideas That Fill December Without Slashing Prices

· 6 min read

Every November the same pressure arrives. The chains are shouting "-40%", a client asks what your deal is this year, and you start wondering whether you have to cut something too. You don't. The best Black Friday salon promotion ideas don't touch your service prices at all: they sell future visits, bring money in early and fill the weeks that actually need filling. Black Friday falls on November 27 this year, which leaves enough time to do this properly.

What a 30% discount really costs

Take a €60 colour refresh. Say €20 of that goes on product and running costs, leaving you €40. At 30% off the client pays €42 and you keep €22. You've given up 30% of the price but 45% of the profit, so you need almost two discounted clients to earn what one full-price client earned. If you work alone, your hours are the limit, and you can't simply double them.

Now look at who takes the deal. Mostly it's regulars who were going to book in December anyway. Ten of them at €42 instead of €60 is €180 gone without one extra visit. The rest are bargain hunters who came for the price and will leave with it.

Then there's the habit you create. A client who got 30% off this November will wait for next November.

Retailers discount on Black Friday because they have stock to clear. Your version of surplus stock is an empty Tuesday in January, not the Saturday before Christmas. Discounting December means giving away capacity that would have sold on its own.

Black Friday salon promotion ideas that keep your prices intact

Pick one or two of these. More than that and the message gets muddy.

A bonus certificate. Instead of "20% off", add value: buy a €100 gift certificate, get a €15 bonus valid January 5 to February 15. The bonus can only be spent in your slow weeks. Sell 20 and you have €2,000 in hand before December starts, while the €300 in bonuses goes on slots that would probably have stayed empty. Certificates also reach people who have never been to you, because the buyer is often a partner or a friend. The full setup, including expiry dates, is in our guide to selling salon gift certificates online.

A prepaid package with a deadline. Black Friday gives you a natural reason to end an offer. "Five blowouts for €180 instead of €200, until Monday night." Ten percent across five visits is a very different thing from 30% on one: you collect €180 today and the client comes back five times. If you haven't priced a bundle before, start with the math behind prepaid packages.

A free add-on for January. "Book any colour for January this weekend and get a gloss treatment included." The add-on costs you a few euros of product and ten minutes. The price stays €60, your slow month starts filling up, and the client tries something they may pay for next time.

Early access to December costs nothing

For a good regular, the prime slot often matters more than a discount. Everyone wants the Friday evening before Christmas, and by mid-December it's long gone. So make that the perk.

On the Thursday evening before Black Friday, send your regulars a short message:

"Hi Anna, before I open December to everyone, you get first pick this weekend. Here's my booking link. Pick whatever suits you."

Then publish the link to everyone else on Tuesday. It costs you nothing, it doesn't touch your prices, and it tells regulars something a discount never does: that they come first.

One warning. Send a link, not an invitation to chat. Forty regulars working out times in your DMs over one weekend, at four to eight messages each, is your entire Black Friday gone. With a booking page they each pick a slot in 30 seconds, and two people can't take the same one.

A simple timeline from now to December

You don't need a campaign plan. You need five dates:

Count three numbers: money collected, January slots filled and new clients. Those tell you more than the number of likes, and they give you a baseline for next year.

What to say when someone asks for a discount

Someone will ask. Don't apologise and don't improvise. Try: "I don't discount my work, but I've got something better. Buy a €100 certificate this weekend and there's an extra €15 in it for January."

That answer does two jobs. It gives the client a deal, and it tells them your price is your price. Most people respect that more than you'd expect, and the ones who don't were unlikely to become regulars.

Keep the sale on your own page

One last trap. Running Black Friday inside a beauty marketplace means your offer sits beside everyone else's, on the one day of the year when clients compare on price alone. Whoever cuts deepest wins, and that's a race you've already decided not to enter.

Run it on your own link instead. ScheDjin gives your salon an isolated booking page with no competitors around you and no commission per booking, free to start. Set it up before November 26 and every regular who grabs a December slot, and every certificate recipient who books in January, lands in a client base that belongs to you. Next Black Friday, you'll have a list to message on Thursday evening and no reason to touch your prices.
